This Privacy Policy explains how Uptimewolf, a product of Foldercrate (“Uptimewolf”, “we”, “us”), handles personal data when you visit uptimewolf.com, use the Uptimewolf monitoring service, or use our free tools.
We keep data collection deliberately small. We do not sell personal data, we do not run advertising, and our website analytics are cookie-free and anonymous. This policy describes what we do collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the rights you have.
2. Who we are
Uptimewolf is operated by Foldercrate, based in Solothurn, Switzerland. Foldercrate is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

3. Data we collect
We collect the following categories of data:
- Account data. When you register, we collect your email address and authentication credentials, and any name or profile details you choose to provide.
- Monitoring configuration. The URLs, hostnames, IP addresses, ports, domains and other targets you choose to monitor, together with the settings and notification handlers you configure.
- Billing data. If you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment is handled by Stripe. We receive a record of your subscription and billing status, but we do not store full card numbers on our systems.
- Support communications. If you email us, we keep that correspondence so we can help you and keep a record of the request.
- Server log data. Like most websites, our servers record technical information such as IP address, browser type and timestamps for security and troubleshooting.
4. Website analytics
We measure website traffic using Logiwolf, our own privacy-friendly analytics product. Logiwolf is cookie-free and fully anonymous: it sets no tracking cookies, does not build advertising profiles, and does not track you across other websites.
Because our analytics do not use cookies or collect personal data for tracking, our website does not require a cookie consent banner for analytics purposes.
5. How we use your data
We use the data described above only to:
- provide, operate and maintain the Uptimewolf monitoring service and free tools;
- run the checks you configure and send you the alerts and notifications you request;
- process subscriptions, payments and renewals;
- respond to your support requests and communicate important service information;
- secure our systems, prevent abuse and troubleshoot problems;
- understand aggregate, anonymous website traffic so we can improve the site.
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.
6. Legal bases for processing
Where data protection law (including the Swiss FADP and, where applicable, the EU GDPR) requires a legal basis, we rely on the following:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the service you signed up for, including running monitors and sending alerts.
- Legitimate interests — to secure our systems, prevent abuse, and understand anonymous, aggregate website traffic.
- Legal obligation — to keep records we are required by law to keep, such as billing records.
- Consent — where we ask for it specifically; you may withdraw consent at any time.
7. Service providers we use
We share data only with the providers we need to run the service. Each acts as a processor on our behalf:
- Stripe — payment processing for paid subscriptions. Stripe handles your card details directly under its own privacy policy.
- Hostpoint — our hosting provider. Uptimewolf and its customer data are hosted on Hostpoint infrastructure in Switzerland.
- Email delivery — transactional and alert emails are sent from our own servers at Hostpoint. We do not pass your email address to a separate third-party email marketing provider.
- Logiwolf — our own cookie-free, anonymous website analytics, described in Section 4.
We do not share your personal data with any other third parties except where required by law.
8. Where your data is stored
Uptimewolf is hosted in Switzerland with Hostpoint, and your account and monitoring data are stored there.
One provider necessarily processes data outside Switzerland: Stripe, our payment processor, may process billing data internationally, including in the United States, under its own safeguards and privacy framework. We use Stripe only to the extent needed to take payment.
9. Data retention
We keep account and monitoring data for as long as your account is active. Monitoring history and check results are retained according to the data-retention period of your plan.
If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required to keep certain records (for example, billing records for accounting and tax purposes).
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data, which may include the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request deletion of your data;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive a copy of your data in a portable format;
- lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
