To create an uptime monitor, open Uptime monitors, click Create monitor, choose a ping protocol (HTTP(s), Ping/ICMP or Host/Port), enter the URL or host, set a check interval and save. Uptimewolf then checks it from the ping locations you select and alerts you the moment it goes down.
Working with uptime monitors
How do I create an uptime monitor?
Open Uptime monitors and click Create monitor. Enter a name, pick a ping protocol, enter the URL or host, choose a check interval, and save.
What are the three ping protocols?
HTTP(s) is for websites, APIs and web services. Ping (ICMP) is for basic reachability. Host / Port is for raw TCP services. Choose the one that matches what you are monitoring.
How do check interval and request timeout work?
The Check interval sets how often Uptimewolf checks your target. The Request timeout defines how long to wait before a check counts as failed. Both are set in the monitor's settings.
Which ping locations can I use?
Monitors can be checked from worldwide locations including Zurich, Paris, London, Dallas and Warsaw. Select the ones you want under Ping locations. Checking from several regions stops a single regional blip from causing a false alert.
What do Cache buster and Verify secure connection do?
Cache buster adds a randomised query parameter to the URL so you are not served a cached result. Verify secure connection checks the site's SSL certificate is valid - leave it on except for testing.
Can I monitor an authenticated endpoint?
Yes. Open Advanced settings and use Custom request to set the request method, body, basic auth and custom headers, so you can monitor real authenticated endpoints.
What is the Email reports option?
When enabled on a monitor, Email reports sends you frequent email summaries of that monitor's uptime.
